Opinions: Quattro de Mayo options/locale?
We're considering NOT doing the Dragon for QdM. The shenanigans of THP have prompted some discussiuon about relocating to
<CHEER>
North Georgia!
So we're looking for opinions-
- Best HQ locale (need city/town w/ amenities, hotel with interior rooms and meeting space, yadayada)
- ideas on whether or not cyclists will be an issue in May
- recommendations for "rest stops" durign spritited drives: Blood Mountain overlook, Brasstown Bald, Black Rock Mountain, etc.
Of course, western NC is just as good, and has beautiful locales, but I know the regions twisities less. I have plenty of resources to look them up, but we need places that can provide sustained day drives (or even a night run like we did on the Dragon last year) that'll interest driving and sightseeing too.
So, chime in!

Im not sure I've ever heard the words 'Blairsville' and 'amenities' in the same sentence before.
From a location standpoint, I agree that its in a good spot, but not for lodging and food.

hwy 64 and 28 are some good drives. and i'm sure there are a lot more. there are way too many cyclists on those roads in north georgia, at least there was this summer when we went.

I'll check out Blairsville. It has grown tremendously, but it is not as 'central'.
I like Asheville too. Will put it on my recon list. TT-E did that in 2003 IIRC.
