Anything similar to BMW's M school? I've never been to one and would like to do it.. I'd like to get to know my car a little better

Default "I'd like to get to know my car a little better" ..then by all means follow...

OldSkewS4's link below to Spring Mountain Raceway in sunny Pahrump NV, only a little more than an hour north of Baker. 2 (weekend) days, Audis, food, sun etc etc.

We'll all be there!

Default I'm really thinking about it. I'm in the process of possibly getting some wheels/tires/brakes

So if I get those, I'm coming!

First-timer - run street rubber. Just upgrade your pads and brake fluid.

Default Speed Ventures

Not a school but the best track day organization in SoCal. You can get an instructor for as much or as little of the day as you want. Definitely my preferred group in SoCal.

Speed Ventures

Default BMW CCA has in my opinion some of the best schools

in the country. They arent as exciting as say a NASA school (which can be anywhere from very informative to utter chaos depending on your instructor and who is running the event) but they are very organized, very regimented, and you learn a HELL OF A LOT about driving on a track from them.

Their instructors are REALLY REALLY good, and often are as good as professional race driver instructors from places like Bondurant, Skp Barber, etc.

The only problem with the BMW CCA is that their driving schools are bit more expensive than most (partially because they are strictly driving schools, every student gets an instructor, and they are one of the established events that you can get track insurance for), and they dont have many schools throughout the year.

The Golden Gate chapter is a good place to get a listing of all California upcoming events.
