A3 Smog Check Problem
I just moved here from Washington State with my 2006 A3. In order to get California plates I had to get a smog check. Has anyone tried to do this? I went to 2 places and both places could get a stable RPM reading with their machine. The second one even hooked up to some port above the dead pedal and it didn't work. Does anybody have any advice?

Had the same problem. You have to go to the referee station.
I think you have to make an apointment, but the test is only about 10 mins long.
Some reason the car is to new and the smog software can not read the RPM'S. I tryed 6 smog stations and all had the same results you are talking about.

Moved to LA and got it done.....
the first place I went suggested I go to a referee station but he said it would cost more and it would take a long time to get an appointment. I ended up finding a second place that couldn't get a stable RPM either but ended up with a certificate (through some highly questionable means) I guess next time I'll go directly to a referee station.
