New to Salt Lake area.......Best Mechs?...Best MB rides?...etc...
Got a lead on the allroad forum about this forum. Just retired from the Marine Corps and finally get to pick where I live after 20 years! Had to get to the mountains so here we are. Will be working up at Hill AFB and living in Sandy (I know the commute will be hell but I'm coming from D.C. so it is relative.)
Looking for some info relating to the following;
Best place to get work done on my allroad?
Best mountain bike rides?
Best Pale Ale in the area? (Just had the Wasatch, not bad..)

Some answers
Streamline at 400E 2100S (sugarhouse area) for your mech work.
I tend to prefer Squatters Full Suspension Pale Ale over the Wasatch brew, by a little bit.
Where isn't there good mountain biking rides?

What area of town are you going to live? Lots of good local mtn biking.
If you are into XC, the Shoreline Trail is good ride close to town. You start near Hogle Zoo & ride up by the big white "U" on the mtn by the U of U & can end up in City Creek Canyon.
Other good local rides - Mueller Park in Bountiful
Pipeline Trail - Mill Creek Canyon
Wasatch Crest trail or Desolation trail in Big Cottonwood Canyon
Check out www.cyclingutah.com for some maps, info, etc.
Park CIty is the place to bike in the summer to get away from the heat. You can spend all summer up there and not ride all the trails.
Check out the link below for Park City trails foundation. They are a great group to join since they are non profit and have cut hundreds of miles of trails in the past few years.
Any of the local bike shops can give you some good info as well. A ggod book to pick up is called "Mountain Biking the Wasatch & Uintas" by Greg Bromka. I'd be up for some riding so drop me an e-mail!

http://www.mountaintrails.org/</a

Just bought a house in Sandy, but will be working up at Hill AFB...
Thanks for the info. I will definitely e-mail you. I am definitely more XC than anything else and will be looking for some new riding buddies.

heh, I know about that growing up outside of DC in MD .... people can easily have 2 hour commutes
with no traffic.
But still, hope there is a good reason to live in Sandy if you are commuting to Hill.
