Default Anybody know places that make custom stash spots in cars. I want to conceal a V1 somehow.

I thought they could some how cut the dash and have the V1 mounted on a tray that could pop up. Kind of like how they have some of the the navagation screens. I must have a radar detector and they are illegal here in VA. Maybe a stereo shop could do something like that. I remember my friend said there were some places in NYC that did custom stash spots.

Default I'm thinking of getting this for Xmas . . .

I'm not sure I can do the work though; I'm pretty clueless.

Default I was planning on that, but I need to be able to have V1 itself on the dash and has to be able to

disappear quickly too.

Default he, I used to do that kind of stuff a LONG time ago.....

We used to make "stash" boxes in the shop I worked in (no longer around). We had some serious jobs too. I remember a few false floor center consoles, some were fake passenger airbag designs but the best was when this one "customer" brought us THREE minivans and we made hollow floors is all three!!. I dont want to know what they were transporting in those cars.

I found out about two months after I left that the FBI came in one morning and shut the place down. They took the owner in for some questions and let him go. As far as I know he never did stash jobs again.

BTW, one of the reasons I left that place was I really did not like dealing with those "customers". Even though %75 of the work was legit stereo intalls that %25 of doing stash boxes or "safes" as we called them was enough to make me feel uneasy.

My guess is most any high end stereo shop would do some tricked out motorization work like what you need. Just dont go in there asking for "stash boxes". They will prolly not want to deal with you.

Default Yeah... but why not just mount the V1 remote somewhere?

I had a V1 remote hidden on my dash in my TT.

Worked really well.

Default I would hide the remote but don't you need the main unit to be on the dash to work properly?

I don't want to have to rip the unit off the dash and put it under the seat if I get pulled over. I was also thinking about finding a broken XM or Sirius dash mounted receiver and trying to hollow it out.

Default I had a totally kickass V1 mount...

... hidden in the headliner of my TT.

The current owner might be able to snap some pics.

Nothing visible but the remote.
