After a challenging but rewarding 9 races STaSIS Motorsports finishes up the SPEED World Challenge Touring Car series at Laguna Seca Raceway.

STaSIS Motorsports entered the final round of the series with Chip Herr in 3rd place ahead of some very serious talent, drivers such as last years Champion, Peter Cunningham, Eric Curran, Brandon Davis, Jeff Altenburg and Charles Espenlaub. Jeff Courtney held a strong lead in the points for the Piloti Rookie of the Year title coming into Laguna.

STaSIS Motorsports finished the SPEED World Challenge Touring Car 2006 season at Laguna Seca bringing Audi home 3rd in the manufacturer's championship. The 2006 SPEED World Challenge Touring Car season was the best ever for STaSIS Motorsports putting cars in the top 10 in eight races, top 5 in seven races, on the podium in four races and winning three races. Team owner Paul Lambert was understandably pleased, "I'm really proud of our team from crew chief to car chief to mechanic, everyone played their part to make this a great season."

In the final race of the season Chip Herr drove his #17 Clear Capital/STaSIS Audi A4 to 5th place from 10th on the starting grid. The performance earned Herr 3rd in the SPEED World Challenge Touring Car driver's championship. For the year Herr had seven top 10 finishes, six top 5 finishes, four podium finishes and three wins making him the winningest driver in the series this year. Reflecting on the year Herr said, "It has been a fantastic year. I can't thank the whole STaSIS team enough, everyone contributed to this successful season. I can't wait until next year."

Jeff Courtney qualified 14th, but had a rough race when a mechanical issue forced him to retire early for the first time this season. However, Courtney's cushion built up throughout the season in the Piloti SPEED Touring Car Rookie of the Year standings held up at Laguna Seca. Courtney in his #99 Kenda/MPI Coin/Karavan Trailer/STaSIS Audi A4 was also 10th in the driver's championship. Courtney had four top 10 finishes and one top 5 finish this year.

This is what happens when you are too inside on turn 6 of Laguna Seca. The burms get quite nasty. Randy Pobst bent a rim during the race at the exact same corner.

But it still held air.... again another example of why we run Volks.

"Hatch" 24 was placed on the side of the side of Chip's car as support for the tragic events that befell the Osborn (Chili Pepper racing in WCTC) family over the past 2 months. Jim and Amy Jo Osborn are some of the most wonderful people I have had the pleasure of meeting and about two weeks ago their two month old son was diagnosed with a rare fast growing cancer that took their sons life on Thursday morning. The Osborn's have been heavily involved in raising money and awareness for leukemia over the years and to have this happen to them devastated the whole paddock in World Challenge. The team at STaSIS sends our thoughts and prayers to the whole family.
