Default Decided on what tow vehicle I will begin looking for...96 Chevy Tahoe

Looking for this due to price, power, availability, size, and because I use to own one before. I think I can get one with 75-110K miles in the $8000 to 9200 range. Wish me luck..my current situation with no tow vehicle is bumming me out royally.

Default equally bummed, I'm with tow vehicle but still no track car, good luck...

should not be a problem as I'm sure you are aware the market is saturated with Chevy/GMC SUV's right now.

Default Steve, are you towing your open trailer?

'96 Tahoe is a good choice, those vortech 350's run really strong.

Missed you this weekend at Sears - Jay said you might come... I brought those SSR's in case you wanted to take them home with you.

Default Trucks are even cheaper and tow as good or better.

I picked up a loaded 2005 F150 for $22K out the door, it tows 10,000lbs. You could probably pick up a 1997 F250 that would tow even more for about your price range.

It is less functional than a Tahoe however.

Default Steve, CO is loaded with Trucks/SUVs right now

There have been at least 4 articles in the paper in the last couple weeks about the high numbers of used vehicles with all the new car specials. I know CO is a long way away, but if you get a better deal it might pay for itself. Here's a link to a search of what you are looking for....

Default i've got a sprinter i could sell you.

not quite as cheap, but think of the money you'd save by not staying in hotels! ;-)

would tow a miata like a champ and get good mileage... good luck on the tahoe search!

Default interior or exterior?

we technically bought through Hickory in NC, but don't recommend them. Have dealt w/ a dealer in Morengo, IL recently (forget dealer name, but can find) and they've been great. Have been helping another AWer set up a sweet new Volvo one (also United) through them, and so far so good.

Probably best to email Mike if you'd like more info, he's quite well versed on the topic now. (mikessp at ameritech dot net )
