Default Yokohama Avid W4s vs. H4s

I'm considering both of these tires for my 1999.5 A4 Avant. After reading the descriptions on the Tire Rack website, they seem pretty similar even though they're in different categories. Any more insight/experience with these tires?

I'm looking for something that's a nice blend of performance and good ride/noise levels. Good performance in the rain is also a plus -- I live in Seattle, after all. :-)

Thanks,
Mike

These two are very close in noise levels and wet traction. Dry grip is slightly better on the W4S and steering response will be faster as well, but the ride will be a bit firmer.

Default Thanks, Gary. One more question...

Will these provide more rim protection? I ask because I have Pirelli P-Zero Nero M+S tires right now, and as a result my wheels are pretty scraped up -- the tire doesn't stick out at all so the tire hits the curb before the wheel does.

Thanks again.

Both of these tires state that they have a rim protector, but so did the Pirelli. Unfortunately I don't have information on what brands or models have 'thicker' rim protectors than others, sorry.
