Default I need help with picking a summer tire out. I want good performance with a decent treadlife.

Its going on the stock rim(205/60-15) so that narrows it down quite a bit. I attend autox once and awhile although not competitively. I want them to last ~40k miles. I need to order from Tirerack because they will overnight them, I need these by Tuesday morning for a track event.

The 3 that seem halfway decent are the BFGoodrich g-Force Sport, which I haven't found much info on. The Yokohama AVS ES100, which is supposed to be noisy as hell but I don't know how long they'll last. Lastly the Yokohama AVS dB S2. Any help I would really really appreciate.

The DBS2 is not a summer tire.

The ES100 will have better dry grip and handling than the G force sport, but will be louder as they wear versus the BFG.

Default Hmm.. that'd be a long time for a summer tire.. (more)

Toyo T1-R
Falken GRB FK451
Dunlop SP9000
Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3
BF Goodrich KDW2
Falken ST-115

Those are some of the "longer lasting" summer tires off the top of my head. It really depends on how you drive.. one person might get 10,000 out of tire someone else gets 30,000 from.

Default Thanks for pointing that out

I guess thats even better though. I'm not looking for all out performance, just something that provides good grip and will last me 2 seasons(~40k miles).

I have the Bridgestone RE950's at the moment...should I try out the DBS2's? Have you heard anything bad about them?

Are you working now? I have to order these today or tomorrow.

Default Well, I didn't check them until now.. all available except KDW2 in both potential sizes (more)

Available in 205/55/16:
Toyo T1-R (and the T1-S)
Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3
Falken ST115
Falken GRB FK451
Dunlop SP9000

Available in 225/50/16:
Toyo T1-R (and the T1-S)
Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3
Falken ST115
Falken GRB FK451
Dunlop SP9000

I didn't do too bad.. just the KDW2 that isn't available in either size.

I never liked the Dunlops.
Didn't last long for me and the performance wasn't worth the price. Just me though.

Default Re: Thanks for pointing that out

If you're willing to accept the tradeoff in handling, the DBS2 would wear about 30K-35K miles, while you might expect closer to 40K out of the RE950, but a slight step down in dry handling from the DBS2.

Hope this helps.
