Default Good-Bad-Good Discount Tire story

So, I go into Discount Tire this afternoon for my 3 o'clock appointment to get new tires (Falken Ziex ZE-512) put on the A4. I had pre-ordered and pre-paid for these tires on Tuesday earlier this week.

After I've been there for about 10 minutes, I get called back by one of the service techs. He says they ordered the wrong size - I ordered 205/55-16, he shows me that they shipped 225/50-16s. No big whoop, they're almost a direct match on diameter - only off by 0.1 inches. Cool; I'm getting a wider tire at no additional cost.

So, they get mounted and balanced and put on the A4. I drive home (2 miles) and get out to look at the tires in the driveway. The rears are put on wrong - the directional arrow is in the wrong direction. OK, so I head back and talk with Chris, the service tech I did business with. He's a little embarrassed and says they'll get it taken care of. A moment later, he's asking another tire tech who did the work on my car (I'm sure they got a pretty stern look from Chris in the work bay). 10 minutes later, the rears are swapped to the correct sides and I'm on my way.

Moral of story: Discount Tire does good work (IMO), but make sure you check and double check the work done by wheel/tire techs and mechanics!

Default Good story - DT is one of the best - but anyone can make mistakes

How a company deals with errors is the key thing. In this case they did the right thing.
For me - the put a rash on my new wheels I ordered from them - they offered to order a new one or give that one at cost. Since I had to have them show me where the rash was - I took the discount. When they got the tires finished mounted - they had buffed the rash off completely.
