Default Need a definitive answer, search didn't help... (m)

Would a 18x8 with a 40mm offset with 225/40ZR18 tires fit on my 2002 A4Q non-sport? I am thinking about lowering it after I get the tires, about 1.5" or so, would I be able to do that too? TIA

Default With that offset, clearing the fender is less of a concern than clearing the brakes/suspension.

Could be close. Can't tell you for sure, though. Which wheels, exactly? Those are odd specs for an Audi fitment.

Default Wrong tire size..

B6 A4's use a 235/40/18 tire size. It's not optimal.
The wheel offset is a bit on the high side, but should fit.

Default Exactly, check suspension clearance carefully, and 235/40R18 is perferred for load capacity.

Borderline fitment.

Default The wheel should be fine with a 5mm spacer. Tire size should be 235/40R18

I have 18x8 Borbet Type R wheels with a 35mm offset. I also have 235/40R18 tires. The extra width is needed for several factors: load capacity, maintaining overall tire diameter, and rim protection. A 235/40R18 is the only size that closely maintains the overall wheel diameter and is therefore a true +2 upgrade from the OEM 16" wheels. This helps to ensure you don't throw off the spedo and tach.

The 40mm offset sounds dangerously close to the suspension hardware and subject to possible road damage. The 35mm offset on mine clears the suspension and doesn't interfere with the fender. Take a look at the pictures in my picture poster, and you'll get a good idea of the setup.

BTW, I've also lowered my A4 1.6" up front and 1.5" in the rear. Wheel setup is still good.
