18" Superleggeras....what are the chances they will rub ??

on my '94 90 Quattro ? Currently I've got stock shocks and H&R springs, so I'm lowered about 1". I will get bilstein or koni sport shocks when i get the new wheels. How strong are the Superleggeras REALLY ? Should I be considering a heavier rim if I go to 18", or even 17" ? I'm located in Toronto. Some of our roads are not great... I'm considering the new Dunlop SP FM901's. Any opinions on these? They are on sale right now --my other choice for almost twice the money is the S03 Pole Positions...

OZ wheels are quality made wheels. I heard that hammann wheels for bmw were made by them too. So, it should be very strong.

well, the largest size on the 90-series is 17", mostly die to clearance restrictions, so for ANY 18" wheel, I would not recommend, esp with the offset for the OZs being 32 mm- VERY agressive.

I have a set of 18's on my 2001 S4 Avant. I've had the misfortune to hit some poorly marked road construction. I would say the wheels are very strong. I've flatted the lips on two wheels on some pretty big stuff. One was about a 1" lip from asphalt to concrete at about 60mph in the center of a large dip. The second was a large pothole about 3" deep and 6" wide. The lip (which is actually about 3mm thick) bent, but nothing else. The wheel is otherwise round and true. Beads were unaffected.

For this kind of weight, you can expect big stuff to bend them.

As for rubbing, I can't say for sure, but in going from a 7.5" wheel with an ET45 to an 8" wheel of ET32, the tire is about 1-1.5cm closer to the fender.
