Default Tire Siping

Have any of you ever siped your tires?
I have the Sport Package tires, and I went through last winter with them. However, I am planning on getting new 17" wheels/tires in the spring, and probably new winter tires next winter, so i was thinking about siping the tires for this winters final use. Can you guys tell me some pros and cons of siping?
Thanks in advance!

Default Re: Tire Siping

The advantage is improved grip and stopping, especially on ice. Some also think that it improves tire life because siping allows tire heat to dissipate more efficiently. The only con that I know of is that the tires will make more noise.

Default The problem is the ruber compound on your "sport" tires is not be optimized for cold weather.

Default Correct, sir! Also, good luck finding someone who will do it on used tires.

Default Siping is not recommended as an additional procedure.
