I'm sure they're better than SP8000's(I haven't compared them on the same car), they're no snow tire. If you have to drive a lot through New England type of snow(a typical winter's, not this winter's), they'll be insufficient.

I found the RS-A's sufficient for Boston winters. If I could be sure that the Pilot's are as good in the snow, I would buy them. I have heard that the P7000 S/S and P6000 S/V tires are not good in the snow. The Dunlop 4000 A/S tires are better, but the P4000 S/T's are very good on the snow (comparable to the RS-A's). But they may be too far down the food chain.. Check them out though.
The RS-A's are quiet. The some can't be said about the P7000 S/S. These tires are noisy. The Pilots, P6000 and the Dunlop 4000 A/S tires are quieter. The P4000 S/T is the quietest - comparable to the RS-A's and Conti 95's. Dry and wet performance of the P7000, P6000, Pilots XGT V4 and Dunlop 4000 A/S tires were never in question for me. I've even heard some good things about the P4000 Super Touring. E |

205-55-ZR16. Put them last October, replacing a set of Pirelli P7000SS. Not a lot of snow this winter (mercifully, since I moved from SoCal last spring), but I've had no trouble with them in the light snow and ice here - of course the light stuff is all these all-seasons are supposed to handle. No snow/ice experience with the Pirellis for comparison, but the Pilots are just about as good in both dry and wet conditions.
In other respects, the Pilot XGT Z4 is a mixed bag. The Pilots have been quieter than the Supersports for the first 7000 miles but feel significantly harsher to me - too harsh for my taste. In fact, I'll blaspheme here and say that I may back off Z-rated tires altogether. After upgrading my suspension, I don't need handling overkill from my tires at the expense of ride comfort. If Michelin makes a V4 in my size, I may try that next time - I can't ignore the good traction, which is what I was looking for. I may also look at the Yokohama AVS S4-V as well. I hope these comments help. Good luck. Peter 97 1.8tqms |

I have recently purchased the Pilot's and I haven't had the chance to check them out in the snow, but if they drive anything like how they drive in the rain, then they will be just fine!!
