Default Any info on Windtrack tires made by a Scandinavian company, I think?

I have been shopping around for some winter tires and besides the normal suggestions (ie Pirelli's Asym, Bliz, and Dunlop) two dealers mention a tire called Windtrack which was is produced by some Scandinavian company. The tire ran about $130 dollars installed and according to these two dealers this tire was very comparable to the Pirelli Asym. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Rich

Default Wintrac tires

Perhaps this is what you were told about?

They are made by the Dutch company Vredestein. The Wintrac is an H-speed rated asymmetric tire with a silica based compound, which is also what Nokian advertises as one of their features. They also make a T-rated directional design called the Snowtrac, similar compound. Both have a 40,000 mile treadwear and road hazard replacement warranty.

I recently purchased the Snowtrac for my Avant, in 205/60R15 size. Have put approx. 1000 miles on them so far, all on wet/dry pavement (left town for a week and wasn't sure what weather I would encounter, otherwise would still probably have my Dunlop 8000's on!).

They are fairly quiet, comparable to the SP8000's to my ear. Definitely not as stable in hard cornering, some squirm and delay in turns but I'm not sure how to quantify that for you. Also a little rough at 90 mph on highway, but fine below 80. No chance to use them in snow yet, but hopefully soon!

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Dean W.
