Default OT..a bit...Overspray on Headlight plex

My 2006 Audi is in very good nick. Everything works and not dents or dings anywhere. I had my house painted last week and parked my car a on the street. After the first day or painting I found overspray all over my car from the spray gun they were using to paint the house. I washed the care very well with hot water through my pressure washer. The overspray came off the paint and glass easily but on the headlamp plex there is a film that won't come off.

Any thoughts on how to remove?

Kind regards from the Costa Brava, Espana.

Richard

You could also try one of the plastic polishers like PlastX and other home remedies if you Google headlight polish.

I would try one of the many headlight lens restorer kits that are available.

Abrasive compounds such as polishing compound and toothpaste will scratch the plastic and leave a hazy appearance.

Clay and quick detailer spray to remove the overspray. Then, depending upon if they need it not, wet sand with 2000-2500 until the surface is smooth, then polish with a medium compound on a high speed, then a fine compound on a DA, and then seal so that your newfound, perfectly clear lenses stay that way

2006 in Spain, must be age dimmed plastic rather than overspray, so it should be adequately polished.

Thanks for the tips guys. I have clay and lubricant here. Will try that in the morning first thing.

Regarding the dimming of the plastic, I shipped the car from Ohio only a little over a year ago and the plastic was nice a clear before the sprayers were working over my house, so I am not certain that the sunlight here is the cause.

If so, is this a part a can have replaced by the dealer or will they want to replace the entire units?

Kind regards from here,

Richard.

If it's water-based paint, just try generic skin moisturiser or baby lotion and after an hour the paint should be soft it should wash off. It should not affect the UV coating (or whatever coating it is) on the plastic.
