Default Drinking too much gas on 2014 Q5 3.0T?

Hi everyone,

I was the owner of 2013 Audi Q5 3.0T Prestige until it got into an accident and the auto insurance replaced my vehicle with brand new 2014 Audi Q5 30.T Prestige few months ago.

I noticed with my previous 2013 Audi Q5 3.0T, I could reach 350~450 miles with full tank no problem when driven on the highway(From Boston to New York for example).

Now with my 2014 Audi Q5, I am barely reaching 300 miles before the car tells me to refill the gas. I have tried going to White Mountains in the north which is around 3 hours drive(average speed of 55mph), and I had to refill my gas on the way back.

I have now driven 2014 Audi Q5 for about 2700 miles, and I am starting to be a bit worried. Is everyone else getting 250~300 miles for 50 city/50 highway? I used to reach 300 miles easily with 2013 Audi Q5 and now I am looking at the gas reading meter everytime.

Yup, the car needs to break-in, and there's always an fuel economy penalty in the winter. There are no difference between your current and previous vehicles.

OR perhaps your fuel gauge is off? Does the fill amount seem to correlate well with the gauge reading?

I have already driven 2600 miles on it. Break in period shouldn't be that long.

I think I will check with Audi although they probably will deny there is any problem even if there was one.

My wife has about 3200 on hers. In a rough 50/50 mix, it is about 10 gals for 170 miles. Roughly 340 miles per tank. (I fill the car up every weekend so that I can drive it )

Wife drives it in D and her foot is only moderately heavy.

Over the holidays we drove 320 miles for about 15 gals. I would guess a little over 400 miles on mostly highway driving per tank (@ 77 mph). (not as specific as Mark P, but the numbers are good)

I forgot to mention that I fill up with 93 from the QT. 91 is not available there.

While not an exact comparison, I'm getting pretty poor mileage on my new SQ5 as well. The on board computer is stating about 11 mpg average and my true calcs on the first 2 fill ups confirms that number. I too am hoping for a bump in mileage once broken in (only have just over 300 miles so far) and perhaps once the "winter blend" is out of the pumps.

I get 280miles per 12gals. I usually don't go all the way to empty but mine is a 2.0T lol

What type of tires did you have on your last q5.

Did they both have the 20" summer tires?
