Default VCDS Programming Question

Howdy all - My Ross-Tech VCDS cable arrived yesterday, and I spent a few hours this morning playing with stuff on the '14 Q5 TDI.

An Auto-Scan of the car was the first thing I did to snag all the info about it. During the scan I got a bit freaked out, as some of the motors in electrical components started actuating (or at least that's what it sounded like), but everything seems normal so I guess that's normal behavior.

I got a bunch of things I wanted programmed, but VCDS threw an error when I tried to program the Gear Selection Display in DIS - basically, it threw an error saying I needed to provide a WorkShop Code and a few other things.

Is it OK to accept the default values of these things, or do I risk goofing anything up here? I figured I'd check here in the Q5 forum as I'm guessing this is car-specific.

Thanks, I've read nearly all of those. I know what the right coding is for the Gear Selection display, I'm just wondering what I should specify for the WorkShop Code (WSC) and the other items it prompts you with. None of the sites above mention this.

It's a new way protect from Audi. In the future, all the more that you used in new models
There is unofficial information that it will Audi in the future completely disable access to the coding

I've attached a PDF of the various codes I've found on the aforementioned websites; for your hardcopy convenience.

Yes, but many of these codes do not function on MY2013-2014 in this is a problem

Different modules, different coding, access protection

The WSC has been required for many years with VCDS. I used it since my 1997 A4, it is not something new.

On my US 2014 Q5 2.0T , I have coded the following....

1. Gear selection indicator
2. Eliminate DRL wink with turn signals
3. Eliminate rear wiper wipe in reverse
4. Turned off rain sensing wipers
5. Turned on passenger outside mirror tilt on reverse (I don't have that option package)
6. Fogs on with hi-beam
7. Minimum radio volume on start up

I haven't come across any coding that hasn't worked, but obviously from list above I haven't done everything.
