We're in the same boat, then, it's been over a year now since I first made contact at the dealership starting to research Q5s (telling him I was waiting on the TDI). Wait for release, wait for order, wait for delivery... we've been here a while! At least we're almost done.

Update 8/23: Ship is now within AIS range for more frequent tracking!
Here's the link to active tracking:
http://marinetraffic.com/ais/default...ntery=31.86357
You can use the interactive map to give it a destination and it gives you approx duration to get there. It says about 11 hrs to port, and that was based on where it was at 1PM EDT, so seems like it will get in around midnight tonight...

Update 8/24: Made it to port in the early hours this morning
It did a few donuts at sea and even in the channel so it must be a sporty ride
Did another donut in the channel - you can see the close proximity to I-95 which obviously makes for a great location:
And here you can see the port - as expected, those are all cars in parking lots. I believe I read that my ship can hold 5000 cars. The center is a railroad car system for whatever type of gravel, etc that gets shipped in.

Finally drove a Q5 TDI today :)
After seeing them at a dealership yesterday, swung over this morning when I had some unexpected free time. Took out the one with the sport seats. I had been in a S-Line/SportInt 3.0T before so I already accounted for how the ride would be - today I just wanted to get a sense for the engine (similarly had taken out A8L TDI before). I was quite happy - seemed to have enough oomph for what I desire. Of course as this was a sales guy I had not been with before, I didn't push it too hard or for too long. Also my reference point was off as I had a spirited drive in the 996TT on the way there

Update 8/26: Confirmed in US, Release to Carrier ETA 8/29, Dealer week of 9/2
The fate of whether it gets here & prepped before we leave for our road trip on 9/6 is still uncertain, but there's hope!
And now these dates are starting to exist in the *past* (below the orange line) which is a wonderful thing

Hopefully they release it from port earlier than Thursday. Not sure how far from port you are by whatever transit method, but the more time the better. I would think if the dealer's aware of the impending trip then they might try and expedite the unwrap and prep, but it does have to get to them in a reasonable timeframe for that. Good luck, hopefully you're able to get it just before! (It's not the end of the world if not, but it'll be awesome if you can take it.)
