what do you mean "Audi ABS" sucks in snow? I have no ABS and am just now entertaining the idea of fixing it. My A4Q isn't my only vehicle, I only drive it snow. Me and a small group of friends do autocross in the snow and drift etc you know my kind. It has always done well performance wise in snow, take-offs, tricks and such. I thought that quattro worked in conjunction with ABS to apply different torque to different wheels. I thought that fixing the ABS would improve snow performance even further. So I guess I'm asking if you're saying that its done so well up til now is due to a lack of ABS as mine has not had it since I've owned it. If so, I simply will leave it be. Any elaboration on the post below would be appreciated. Thanks.

Why don't you fix and and figure out how to install an ABS kill switch? Don't forget to post the write-up! lol

Funny this thread came up as I just replaced mine last week. I paid $173 for the ABS computer used, the new price I was quoted was $600.

It died around 154K and I also ended up replacing the airbag module which has been an intermittent problem for 5 years.

ABS is an integral part of Quattro, as I note in my post. It is worth having just for that alone. At no point in my post do I advocate dumping ABS, in fact the post argues the opposite.

That said, Audi ABS, and ABS in general, sucks in slushy snow on pavement, when you really want the wheel to lock and the tire slide and push into the snow. It can be annoying.

Default Not once but twice

About every 100K miles it has gone out. Haven't fixed it a second time yet.

I am the second owner of my 2001 Audi A4 1.8T B5,i have to go through my service records i got from the dealership, that faxed me the service record for my 01 B5 and see if it has failed and been repaired/replaced.

I have not experienced a ABS failure as of yet,had my baby(Audina) since 2009. ^_^

I looked through Audina's service records quite a while ago and don't remember seeing anything related to ABS repair,it has been awhile since i read through the many pages that cover years of warranty,so i have to look again.

Just picked up a 99 a6 avant q and it too has a failed abs module. I have never really had a car with abs though so only a big deal when it comes to the quattro I guess?
