Default Painting Interior Wood Trim (in progress....)

Well, im finally sick and tired of my mis-matched wood trim that came with my car, any one else have mis-matched wood in their car? I find it odd that the rear door trim and center console came in light birch wood, and the dash and front doors trim are a dark colored burlwood. After seeing a before/after picture of Hildens trim, I decided to paint it "Piano Black".

So far i've removed and painted the door, and center console trim pieces. I also picked up a damaged woodgrain **** from ebay for dirt cheap. I chipped off all the wood grain, and was left with the core, which was just a shaped piece of wood to my surprise. I epoxy primered the ****, and painted it using PPG automotive paint.

More pics will follow...

The cars did not come with two types of wood. The 04s and 05s with Birch wood trim had a problem with the urethane coating on the trim. Cars that had extensive exposure to sunlight had a photo-reaction that turned the dash and door pieces (they get the most sun) a dark orange color similar to the Vavona trim color in A8s with the Amaretto interior.

Had the same issue due to sunlight on the 2005.

That piano black will look sharp I think.

Really miss that rich/warm burl look - I had the same color interior.

Makes sense - I saw some A6s exactly like that and assumed they were dodgy cars.

Were the centre trims hard to remove?

I have been looking at changing mine as well. Is there a DIY for removing all the trim?
