Default 2004 A8 hood stays open... latch broken?

my 2004 A8's hood wont close / lock down all the way on
the left side (looking from inside the car) so drivers side.

is latch broken that holds it all the way down?

where can i get one and how do i replace?
thank you

You'll need to use standard automotive troubleshooting techniques to determine that since we can't see your car. Could be the latch, could be the pin on the hood fell off, could be that the cable that controlls that suspect latch jammed in the pulled out position. To remove the latch I believ requires the "front clip" meaning front end with grill and bumper cover has to be removed. The Bentley service manual (on CDRom) details the procedure. Or the Elsa dealer searvice manual is even better. You should consider buying if you plan on servicing the car. If you are just flipping the car, well then you just may want to pay someone to repair it.

Default Trunk

My trunk does the same thing, but it's cold related. If you're in a cold area get it warmed up and try. Good luck.

i thought you meant the hood!

yeah, here in MN is COOOOOLD!!! and i put the car
in the garage, sprayed WD40 all over the non-working latch
raised it up about 10 inches, dropped the hood and VOILA!

it closed all the way.

Same problem here, but living in SoCal is rare to see temps dip under 65Deg F, so it works 95% of the time. When it's colder than normal say 45deg, I noted that the trunk seems to get out of sequence with the locking cable mecanism that slides to lock the trunk on the catch. I simply manually lock the hook with my finger on the trunk lid (leave the trunk in up/open position), and press the trunk open button on the key fob, and the cable releases and slides back to the "open" position. Makes sense since the trunk will not close, if the hook catch is already in the down and locked position. Note that it make take a couple of attemps to reset it. My theory would be the cold temperatures somehow binds the cable motor in the closed position when its under the load of the trunk. Metal shrinks when it's cold.
