Default My dealership and AOA experience with leaky sunroof...

My new to me 07 has been in the shop for a few weeks fixing the leaky sunroof. Just got it back today. After fighting with dealer and AoA, AoA only agreed to pay half. I had to pay $1650. They replaced the frame and gasket plus the amp. I agreed but not without a fight. They did not want to hear anything about these forums claiming that outside influences cannot determine anything.
While it was being fixed, I ran a Carfax and it showed on 2 occasions of sunroof leaks repaired under warranty plus the amp replaced. I called back and they did not want to hear it. Told me to take it or leave it as I tried to get them to pay for all considering it was already repaired twice.
I also had a check engine light and I ran the code for a coil. Was going to do it myself but according to carfax , they were all replaced in May. I called the dealer to inform them and they said no problem as it was under warranty. Today when I went to pick it up I saw a charge for the coil and plug for $205. They said the coil was rusted as someone must have washed the engine bay.
WTF!
I still feel I should not have paid anything.

Default 75k no CPO...

Bought it from a local non-audi franchise dealer, 1 owner. Always serviced at Audi.

Unfortunately you are at their mercy as you are out of the 4yr/50k warranty period. You were lucky they paid for anything at all... Perils of buying used. "As Is" right?

They are really hurting themselves by treating customers like this, I was in the same boat (leaks after leaks, even after warning them before each leak about the TSB), with the exception of sunroof replacement, with the carfax report you should fight them all the way, including using a law...

What would a lawyer do? I suppose he could possibly get the selling non-Audi dealer to buy the car back but seriously- he had a chance to have the car checked out(including buying a carfax) BEFORE purchase. I can't feel too bad for someone that buys a used, out of warranty car without doing so ahead of time then comes here and complains AoA won't cover the issue. True, AoA should have recalled ALL 2007 models and replaced the S/R's, but it still doesn't make them liable for S/R leaks at any age/mileage...

Please, do not get me wrong. I am against the lawsuit situation in the US, I have never sued anybody, and I avoid lawyers.
In regard of this issue, I tried for AudiNA to change the drains before my warranty was expired and they refused stating my car was OK, then started having leaks after leaks with subsequent damages and headaches, fighting my dealer and AudiNA, to just get partial coverage of all this nonsense manufacture sunroof design flaw.
It is unacceptable how Audi in the USA has handle the problem, many of us have deal with it and fight it with them, they should have stepped up and fix the problem instead of just pretend nothing happened.
If anybody has a Q7 in the VIN numbers affected, if there is a leak, milage age don't matter for a sunroof leak, unless it was fixed by Audi...

except you shouldnt be at the mercy of anybody when Audi had knowledge of a manufacture defect all along. It is not down to any form of abuse or neglect by any owner. The very proof of that is the fact that it has not been fixed. In other words the car was stored indoors until now. How could you use the car without the electrics?
What ever way you say it AMG5S8 is the victim of a deliberate policy by Audi not to fix a known problem (on MY 2007) and no one else. Its not right, Caveat emptor should have no part of this case. Did the vehicle have a big sign on the roof saying 2007 Q7 with faulty sunroof not fixed, buy at your own risk? NO He had no possible way of knowing about it, most likely the previous owner didnt either. We (Q7 forum) knew about it but we dont count acording to Audi Service or so we are told over and over by people who try to use our info. Lets see who else knew about it? oh yes Audi of America, Audi service, Audi AG, Audi GMBH. That is basically all those who were already paid for a car that has not been fit for purpose since it was built.
Three more things we know:
1. Every single MY 2007 with sunroof built before the upgrade will fail with this problem at some time if not fixed.
2. It cannot be prevented without specialist attention.
3. The water ingress will damage electrics IE MMI, Amp, Bluetooth, Satnav in any combo or all.

PS nobody pays me and I have no vested interest in any party or outcome. I just record what I can. And watch and watch and watch year on year on year since 2006.

SHOULD Audi step up and fix any 2007 with this issue? YES!
Does Audi have any obligation to do so? NO. It is completely up to them as no recall action was started. It is most certainly shameful on their part and likely will cost some customers but obviously this isn't enough to make them act on the matter. 2007's are now WAY out of the OEM 4yr/50K warranty and they have no obligation whatsoever to do anything about leaks at this point. You may get some help via good will if you have a good repoire with the dealer, but otherwise you are likely SOL.

I have a Q7 with leaky sunroof, blown amp. What do I need to do to submit info for the tracking spreadsheet? I'd like to do my part...
