Default Air Con dead Urghh

Summary:

Total Parts = $1046.50 (of which the compressor cost me $995.02)
Labor = $424.50

Does a compressor cost this much($995)? anyone done this before?

Yes, compressors can actually cost more on other brands. I was quoted $1200 to $1600 for a Mazda 929 depending on what engine it had and that was over 12 years ago.

How do you know it's the compressor that is dead? If the system leaks and refrigerant pressure drops below a certain level, the computer tells the compressor not to run.

Good question, Stealership told me it was dead with debris inside of it... so I took their word for it and one thing led to the other...they had their way with me lol
