My guess is that they screw up either the speed or crank sensors which is causing the engine not to start (no spark). Is the cylinder compression low?

Response/timing slipped/skipped somehow when they were trying to align the TC. They attempted to start car and it ran for 20 seconds then died......that is where damage was done.

Bold faced lie. No question.

Closer to the truth. The more I read, the more I am convinced that they tried to turn the engine over using one of the cams instead of the crank.

I'm just going to reiterate - get another shop, a qualified Audi shop, to rebuild the engine.

The timing on my 93 Quattro 100 went, a shop repaired the engine at a steep price, a year later the head gasket went.

Get your A6 out of there.

When things goes wrong it seem to pour. What happens when a shop is totally clueless, read the links below.

My suggestion would be to get a second opinion before these clowns do any more damage to your car. Since they can't tell you how the timing slipped, then I would question if the timing did slipped.

I'll reiterate as well:
Rebuilding just opens a can of worms. Repair the damaged valves only.

But I agree that the car should be anywhere but Aamco.

Who takes an Audi to Aamco anyway?

I meant rebuild In the sense of repairing the damage.

Semantics?

Maybe to some. But they are two vastly different thing in my world.

I my guess is correct, there are a handfull of bent valves on one of the two banks, probably bank one. I bet only one head needs to come off and less than a dozen valves replaced.

It was not clear to me, and it may not have been clear to the OP.

Why not just say what you mean?
