Default Adaptive transmission

I did a search on this but could not find any infomation on this subject.
Does the 8 speed transmission on the 2012 A6 have adaptive memory where the car “learns” your driving style? If it does, is there a way to reset and clear the adaptive memory? The Benz I just came out of had a sequence of ignition position and pedal pushes that reset the transmission to factory defaults clearing out the memory. I have just completed my break in period and am now ready for a little more spirited driving. TIA for any information on above.

I'm not sure, but doesn't sport mode practically opens a new page for you to run around and become "spirited".

My D mode is quite slow compared to my sport mode. I think Sport mode puts your car in the best position it can be in terms of sporty driving.

Tranny will learn & adapt to your driving style, the steps below should work on any car that has adaptive memory for transmission not just 8 speed:
DO NOT REMOVE THE KEY DURING THIS PROCEDURE
This Works with any car that has Driver Adaptive Electronic Controlled Transmission.

1. Get in car, it doesn't matter if you close the door or not.
2. Turn the key to the on (not start) position, the position just before the starter turns over. – foot off brake - all warning lights on.
3. Press the gas pedal to the floor with the key in the "on" position.
4. Hold the pedal to the floor for five seconds, then turn the key back to the "off position". Foot off brake press start button - all lights now off (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.
5. Wait a full 2 minutes for a full electronic alignment. Don't remove the key.
6. Start engine & drive.

I did not try the above steps neither on my BMW nor on A6 after break in (just completed A6 break in)

Safest approach is to switch as suggested to dynamic mode or DS that should give you results you looking for, while you drop back to auto mode for relaxed driving. I found auto mode can pick up quiet good but it shifts too fast hence Sport mode is the safest approach.

What about vehicles with a start button and no key, per se?

Press Start button with foot off the brakes (without depressing the brake pedal), that should start ignition On.
