1) Fuel Pump? It is under the rear seat, but wouldn't expect the noise to go away.
2) Define "grinding" better. Bearing would be more of a "hum"; CV would "clunk". |

I had a 2001 A4 that had a grinding that I thought was the bearing, replaced it and that wasn't it. Thought it had to be the CV, replaced it, wasn't it. Turned out that the brake piston had a ridge of rust that wasn't letting it retract back into the caliper so the pad was rubbing constantly. New calipers fixed it for sure. Much easier and cheaper to check that first

The grinding feels like a constant rubbing and then goes away but it doesn't happen every time.
The rattle or ticking is weird it just stops at 30 mph no idea about that. I am taking it in for some normal fluid changes might have them take a peek. Thanks |
