Default Oil light on 2012 S4

I have just about 1600 miles on my car now and the other day I started the car and the oil min. indicator light came on. According to the manual, you just have to add a quart, no big deal I guess. Maybe they didn't add enough factory oil? or is the motor consuming oil? This happen to anyone else?

Soft break in per the manual? Regardless, check the MMI and buy the dipstick.

As Goony said, check the level in MMI. You can get a dipstick from ECS at http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B8_S4-...ick/ES2070638/. You may want to add oil slowly and check with MMI versus dumping a whole quart in all at once. Having the oil a little below max is better than overfilling from what I've read.

Do you have a vag-com cable and VCDS software? If so, could you post your oil level info (before and after you add) in this thread:

I have 1700 mile on my 2012 and the mmi indicated max at delivery and has remained at the maximum so far. I did the hard break-in if you were wondering.

You are really only gettting an aproximate level without a dipstick. MMI reading may be accurate enough for most.
