2011 Audi Q7 MMI Upgrade

Hello, I was just wondering if it is possible to upgrade a 2011 Q7's MMI 3G to MMI 3G+, which is now in all the 2012 models. We want Bluetooth Stereo streaming (A2DP) which the 3G+ has. From what I have seen in videos, the 2012s have the exact same MMI button setup as the 2011s (8 buttons surrounding the *** with its 4 corners, as opposed to the 4 buttons that surround the *** like on the A6, A7, and A8). The screen size looks to be the same as well. This leads me to believe that the change is really only a software update. Has anyone had their dealers do this? i'm told by the tech at dealer the part number for the bluetooth is identical. so it could be just an software upgrade to get A2DP.

probably not going to get the Google Map stuff... that requires a new unit

The 2011 3G and 2012 3G+ are different hardware. The 2011 version cannot use the 2012 software and cannot be upgraded OEM to use A2DP

what do you mean different hardware exactly? If the buttons and screen and resolution are al the same then it's the same hardware. Except for the Audi connect (google maps) stuff.....we don't really care about that anyways. If it's the same bluetooth unit that makes this even more feasible.

The parts you don't see, that is different. It just is not compatible. This is on these and other boards, I researched it before buying. The 2011 Q7 MMI is very much like the 2012 Q5 MMI so you can see what is going on there. I couldn't believe it either when I heard it was not possible.

Stock OEM streaming bluetooth solution for MMI 3G before MY 2012 is not possible.

There are 2 non OEM solutions I have seen on the board, but that is all I have heard working.
