Is it impossible to program a single key fob to the a8

I bought the car about 3 years back and tried to look up how to program a key to the car, in vag-com, i can see that it is picking up the signals, but isn't doing anything. Is there a way to program the key with just a single fob?

If the fob has the correct chip in it, the dealership can do it.

When I got our 02 S8, it came with just one key, so I bought a couple fobs off of fleabay's "best" seller of such products, paid a key shop to grind the new key blanks and took them to the dealer. Turned out neither had the correct chip to go with that car. Tech spent almost a hour trying with their fancy computer.

Thanks for the reply kneale, hopefully i have the right chip in mine, i have a 4D0 key ending in P. I think i'm going to try to buy a blank chipless fob off ebay and copy it then try to program it myself through the guide on audipages.
