My experience is just the opposite. No "testing" and they won't last a mile longer than pads, or about 25K. May be if I drive highway only. Or may be my "not testing" is somewhat different.

Default Sensors?

Do the EBC reds come with sensors, or is that an extra part I need to buy?

They come with sensors.

And I can attest to the low dust factor. It's truly remarkable after having factory pads on for a long time.

Default Yes, EBC reds have the sensors and ...

plug directly into the stock Audi connectors.

On the front that is. The rears (including Audi OEM) don't have sensors; they rely on the parking brake motor positioning system to calculate wear.

Before getting the $19.00 rotors from Tire Rack; Yes, they look good and are made by Continental-Teves (ATE branded rotors). I bought 'em along with the clearance pads (also ATE). When it came time to install them, they were 2 or 3 cm too small in diameter. I had to run out and buy the real McCoy's for a *slightly* higher price.

If anyone wants them, they are free to any regualr poster here. Pick them up in 48188 or I can drop them off on one of my regular Detroit -Chicagoland runs. Tire rack said no refunds on clearance items and I'd have to pay for return shipping.

I still did not lose as the low priced rear pads made it worth it. Veryy little dust (versus stock) and they stop just as well.

I can attest to the EBC RedStuff Pads. They are very low dust, stop very well and were a decent price. The connectors for the front plug right into the Audi connector. They do take about 300-500 miles to wear in properly and you do need to follow MFG instructions for break in. For typical A8 driving these work very well.

I'm a huge fan of Akebonos and will be driving around with my brakes on so I can replace the OEM pads ASAP They don't make a sound but the brake dust is a killer. If bedded correctly, the Akebono's are just as quiet.

Does anyone know the correct Akebono Euro part # for an early '05 (if that makes a difference)?
