Never drove an S4.
My S5 Cab. is ultra quick, especially with the sport differential set on Dynamic. The Sport Diff. is a blast. Any faster off the line and beyond would only produce trouble.....................with the Law.

I only test drove the S4 but sure, the S4 will be a wee bit (in my view wee) quicker as it's lighter by several hundred pounds. But these aren't the same car at all. If you get the S5 cab you're going for style and speed in a convertible. It also costs $10-15k more than the S4 so that's also a consideration. But the performance differential is small here. Both are great cars and will be pretty darn fast. Neither has the V8 so that's out of the picture. So, if you're willing to spend another $10-15k for a convertible that looks great, then go with the S5 cab. If you don't care for a convertible and actually want 4 doors, go with the S4. I don't know of many disgruntled S4 or S5 owners either way

Honestly they are about the same...DO THE STASIS TUNING IF YOU GET THE CAR..IT IS SSSSSSSOOOOOOOOO WORTH IT! The car is much more responsive and significantly faster...tuned I was holding even with a Stasis tuned S4 and could take a stock S4. I just did the ECU tuning when i bought the car but doing the exhaust soon as the sound is not great on this thing...a bit whimpy with the S tronic farts at gear changes. Love this car though. I do not miss my RS6 much if that tells you anything.
