Huh that is pretty interesting. Different perspective. Another factor to consider though is second row room. The seats in the Q5 are much roomier than in the allroad. I sat in both and it was quite a noticeable difference.

This was without a doubt the deciding factor for me in favor of the Q5. i would have preferred the Avant, like the look of the Avant better, it's lighter and quicker. But the rear seat is tight in the Avant, and noticeably roomier in the Q5. After 3 weeks with the Q5, it is the ideal size for us (family of 4), still plenty of room for stuff in the cargo area.

That is true and quite dissappointing that I can fit only one set of golf clubs in the Q5 trunk. Even with the rear seats moved forward. I need to fold the backrests down. Not a big deal, but still.

Are you able to fit more than one set of clubs in the avant/allroad trunk without folding the seats down?

I fit two sets -- and they are pretty big bags. I take the driver out of both bags and stick the grip for them in the gab between the back seat and the cargo area cover. You can actually just stack them on top of each other diagonally.

It's a bit of a puzzle, but you can get them in there. I imagine you can do better without the cargo cover attached.

lol who said you can only fit one bag? I guarantee you can fit multiple bags in there. Just stack them.

Please show me. A picture of your stacked golf bags in your Q5 will be helpful.

Thank you.

No problem. I'll be loading 2 sets in on Saturday. I'll take a picture and post it then.

We are also trying to decide between the two, and therefore I have done extensive research on both. We are selling our '03 allroad for a new car. It looks like we will be going with the Q5, mainly because of where we live (snow, some roads that could be kept up better, etc.). However, that's beside the point. What I discovered is some very interesting things: first of all, the Q5 is only .8 inches higher than the allroad, and the whole car (Q5) is only 7 inches taller than the allroad. However, the most interesting thing is that the Q5 actually has a LOWER drag coefficient than the allroad, being .33 and .36, respectively. Just some food for thought. It must be those fender flares.

I found the Allroad to be smaller than the Q5...especially the backseat, very uncomfortable compared to the Q5. The new allroad feels more like an A4 where as the older allroads felt like A6's.
