Default 2012 A8 truck open most mornings.

Hers a good one. last few week Ive believed i am going crazy.

on most mornings last 4 weeks i walk out of the house to discover the trunk open.

ive had others on my block knock on the door to let me know and/ or simply close it. a few times with in an hour of closing it, id go back out to find it open again.

most of the first two months i had the car i inadvertently had the valet button activated(i havent used the trunk much)

Any ways, this happening to you?

is it the foot auto open feature? maybe an animal walking under the car at night? weather triggering it?

Your thoughts? if it keeps up ill head to the dealer, though not sure how id replicate it...

Thanks

wow, that's bizzare and a big concern would be if it opened during a heavy rainstorm

You are not alone.
I've had the same thing happen albeit only a few times at work.
I also looked out the window of my office a different time and all the windows were down. ( I activated that function via vag- com)
I thought it may have been the key fob in my pocket being inadvertently pushed against my leg?
Mine is an early build that does not have the trunk motion sensor.
Perhaps it is someone else's key fob being on the same frequency?

I really have no idea.

Wow, that's scary!! I've had my 2012 A8L for two weeks but haven't experienced this yet (and hope I don't!!). Imagine having done some holiday shopping with a truckload of gifts (or your wife's purse, etc.) and the trunk pops open on its own in a mall or restaurant parking lot.... Mine has the "auto foot" opening feature as well but my understanding is that the motion sensor used for this feature is very much tuned to the motion of someone's foot being swung under and out from underneath the rear bumper (in the center area). Moving side to side won't open it. The sensor was designed to NOT open the trunk if other motions such as a small animal moving or leaves blowing under the car took place.

You should head to the dealer anyway. They need to know about this ASAP. Since Big Hank has it happening as well, there are probably others and Audi needs to know if they don't already. Might be a service bulletin out on it. I'll be asking my dealer on Wednesday.

I am assuming that the sensor only works when your keyfob IS with you. Can the motion sensor sensitiviy be changed in the MMI? Can it be disabled until the problem is resolved?
