I agree the computer results for MPG are not that reliable. I have been doing my own calculations (set the trip odometer between fillups to see how many miles and then divide by how many gallons it takes to fill up the tank). For city/hwy mix (40/60), I'm averaging about 24 MPG.

I forgot to mention that I'm still in break in period and only driving car in "auto" mode, No Dynamic mode yet. I believe setting car in Sport mode will lower MPG numbers but I have not tried and my numbers were only based on auto mode.

I have a 2010 with basically the same engine except for a 6 speed tranny instead of 8. With over 27,000 miles tracked on fuelly.com (see my signature) and probably 66/33 highway/city (running 75-85 on the highway), I am averaging 20.7 mpg which is close to the 22mpg combined rating for the C7 A6.

It's really surprising to see people reporting 25mpg+ (unless they have the 2.0T or are running @ 65mph on mostly highway trips) which would equate to 500 miles plus on a tankful. On a couple occasions, I've run my trip computer down to 0 miles showing on the "miles to empty" read out and these were generally with 430-440 miles on the trip odometer (21-22mpg)....in both instances, I ended up filling up with slightly over 20 gallons (fuel tank is stated to be 19.8) so I must have been on fumes.

I have a C7 Prestige 3.0T. I usually drive in Auto mode. Occasionally I put it in dynamic mode and gun it, but not very often. I don't wait till it gets on fumes to refill. Usually I'm a little over 400 miles on the trip odo, and to fill back up, I'm pumping close to 17 gallons. I have about 3K miles on the car. (My MPG got better after the car broke in).

I am surprised at some of the higher numbers posted on here as well. I'm wondering if some of it is due to the different way we measure MPG in the US vs Europe? When I see some of the car reviews from Europe, they always seem to report higher MPG than in the US.

An imperial gallon = 1.2 US gallons.... that might explain the disparity.

Mine are based on calculations of miles travelled between fillups. I never really look at the car's numbers.

I had the C6 as well before I traded it for the C7. Driving on the same road to work, its a road alone a river with speed limit at 45 mpg and very few stop light, my C7 gets about 2-3 MPG better than C6. On the highway, I am getting about 29 MPG driving about 80-85 mph. The 8 speed tranny really makes a big difference as far as power and gas mileage.

I get the same 28-29 at 80 to 85 out here in West Texas (legal speed 80). I am very happy with the mpg. Around town I get 17-20.

my car now has 4100 miles. The over mileage on the long term is 24 but i took a 450 mile trek yesterday and it was just under 31 for the trip. this is in the mountainous western pa territory. i would think if not for the hills of pa the overall would be around 26-28

totally happy with the mileage and the power.

Best so far was just over 37mpg (calculated by hand vs. trusting the computer). This was on a road trip going a steady 70 mph. Of course, this is also with the 2.0 powertrain. Normal mpg is low 30s in mix highway/suburban type driving.
