Default Time with the car and have some questions.

I have time to enjoy this wonderful Saloon and now I have some questions.

Lower portion of the air box. Any body just remove it completely?

Magnaflow X-pipe in place of resonators. Anybody have some pics and what part number did you use?

LED DRL's, any way they can stay on after the headlights are turned on? Vagcom option?

N2O? yes I said it. I have had nitrous on my Camaro SS and on the Z06 before I put a supercharger on it so this isn't my first go around or a pie in the sky question. The Camaro had a progressive dry hit for 75 h.p. and then the wet system took over for up to 300 h.p. on a fully built motor.

Anybody heard of anybody putting a dual 25 h.p. dry shot on these cars into the air filter? What is the trans on the S6 rated for?

Yes I love to modify cars. LOL

89 views and no answers to any of them?

Anything would be appreciated. Even a "you are crazy for nitrous" comment.

Well you get the idea. You probably want to go over to the Audizine forum for a discussion regrading these types of mods. The crowd here is not really into these types of mods. Audizine is more into mods. Good luck.

Lower Air box removal - WHY?

Rather than sucking in cold air from behind the grill you will suck in hot air from the engine compartment.

There have been some S6 owners who have removed the spring loaded little flap at the bottom of the airbox to allow it to always remain open, but i can't speak for the results. Audi has it there for a reason to open under heavier load/rpms.

The car seems so choked off though. I removed the lower airbox this weekend and added some K&N's. Throttle response was improved and a SOTP improvement. A lot of times manufacturers choke the cars intake tract way down to reduce intake noise more than anything else.

Gonna build a fiberglass lower the will still protect the filter from the engine side heat but still pull more air than stock.

Any ideas on the Magnaflow or Dr Gas X-pipe replacement? I want to get the resonators off.

I hate to be a spoiler but I just do not believe what you say. If a manufacturer did this I would think that they would be decreasing fuel efficiency by increasing the resistance to air flow. With the current fuel economy standards I would think that would be the last thing they wanted to do. And I doubt that the K&N will help much but it probably will not hurt since the 3.2's do not have a hot wire MAF sensor to foul.

Not a spoiler at all. I like the discussion.

Every American car almost since the addition of the throttlebody has been equipped with a silencer bump or a large void in the intake tract to help with intake noise. Even my Z06 Corvette had it before they were removed by me.

The reason for the flaps is to increase airflow after a certain amount of vacuum is pulled in the tract itself. Vacuum before a throttlebody is restrictive in nature.

Oh and I have the 5.2 v10. MAF wire fouling is from people soaking the filters with oil. Very common problem with all cars where someone buys a K&N and doesn't uderstand this. Not an Audi problem. A very light coat is all that is needed for a street vehicle. My dirtbike on the other hand requires a lot due to the dust and muck.

I am no expert on these engines but, Wouldn't you have to re-program the engine and re-chip.
It seems to me that the engine will only do what the curent program tells it to do, i.e. amount of fuel passed through the injectors etc. if you pass more air through will this alter the amount of fuel injected?
