Default AMI to USB Drive Problem

I bought an AMI-USB interface cable for my B8 S4. It cost $14 on Amazon. Not bad considering ECS wants $75 and Audi gets even more. I plug in a 32gig USB2 thumb drive and the music plays and sounds great. Plug in a 500gig USB3 drive with 80gig of music on it (maybe 10,000 songs) and the MMI says it does not recognize the device. My guess is that either the drive is too large, there too many files, or the MMI is not compatible with USB3. Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem with my 1TB Samsung USB drive. A reformat from NTFS to FAT32 fixed it. Now works flawlessly with Chinese no-name cable.

I tried that. It appeared to work but I eventually discovered that only half of the music folders were playable. Same with a 32gig sd card, a 32gig thumb drive, a 64gig thumb drive, and the same 64g thumb drive with a 32gig partition. Can't get playlists to work either.

I thought there was a limit of something around 4100 files per source. If that's correct, and you're filling up over 32GB of compressed music, I would presume you are exceeding that limit.
