I have both: '11 S4 Prestige and '10 A42.0T Avant/sport package/APR Stage I. The premium is much more than $8k. I don't know where it comes from either but, subjectively its worth it: the S4 is much more car even in stock form. The supercharged 3.0 is an amazing piece of engineering and performance.

The engine in the A4 is a detuned version of the S4 engine and could make S4 power with a relatively inexpensive ECU tune. It's much more likely that Audi will continue to improve the 2.0T, although any significant improvements may not occur until B9.
How long before the B9 comes out? Should I trade my 2012 B8 for it when it does or just spend the money on a Revo or APR tune and call it a day?

No one knows for sure, but the speculation is that it won't be released until MY2015 or MY 2016, so it's at least two years away.

Should be out in 2015 as a 2016 model.

But what about the Revo or APR tune? Waste of money?

I hope the new gen A4 is a 2015 model...not a '16.

The refresh is supposed to take the A4 the last couple years before an all new car.

3 more years is too long with this 211/258 spec car, and it's already falling behind others in the hp department.

yeah, and I hate to agree, but BMW just announced that the 2013 3 series will be available as a wagon, in awd, with a stick, M-sport package, and that nifty new turbo 4 motor. there are even whispers of diesel availability, which BMW won't deny. A Diesel Stick Wagon is the holy trinity of car perfection. I think it's also the place where my wife buys shoes (DSW?). I don't know how I'm going to break the news to my Audi dealer when the lease is up. we've been friends for 7 years.
