Default Pics-Brake calipers painted w/ decals

I had the Q up on jack stands and the wheels off this weekend so that I could try out the G2 caliper paint that I bought. I have to say that I am very very happy with the end result. It was very very easy to apply and has a very nice gloss to it as well. There is plenty of paint for 4 calipers and drums if you wanted to paint them, I choose to just paint the calipers. My Q5 is only 2 + months old so the calipers were already very clean so there wasn't much time spent on cleaning off brake dust and road grime which could have added a bit more time to the process. I also bought two sets of vinyl decals off of ebay. One set of Sline decals and another set of the Audi four ring logo. I am also going to be doing this to my A7 and I want to use the Audi logo decals for those calipers to achieve a more "refined look". Anyway here are some pics of the process.

Very Nice! Looks terrific.

Do you have any concerns about the decals pealing due to the heat?

Thanks,
tgt

It looks very sharp. Did you paint them in-situ or remove them?
How is the G2 paint applied, aerosol can, brush, spray gun?

I hadn't heard of G2 (have used other products in the past). Brushing on is a huge benefit. Spendy, but looks like a good product.

It's brush able hi-temp paint system. I painted them in place and if you mask appropriately and have a steady hand and take your time it will come out great. The decals are made out of hi-Temp resistant vinyl and made for this application. From all the research I have done they seem to last a long time and don't fade or peel off. I have a lot of confidence that this will last a long time and if need be it'll be easy enough to sand and redo if anythings fades over time.

The heat resistant vinyl has a lifespan of about 12 years from what I see written about it. Mine came in 2 sections the "red" cut and the "white" cut that you put together to make the logo.

If you get a "sticker" it will just come off or last a very short amount of time.

Haha, they make the G2 paint in so many colors, they even have purple and pink.

Who's going to be the first one to take the plunge?

Nice work - excellent job.

I painted the calipers on my 98 A4 with the epoxy paint. It does last a long time.
