Default Red S4 in Kitchener area

Hello,

I am hoping someone here knows something about a specific S4 in the Kitchener/Waterloo area. It was Dave McDonald's S4 originally (local weather man) and has been plauged with timing belt issues. I understand the current owner wants to get rid of this car but I do not know who that is. Thanks for any information.

I am in Canada but do not know of that particular UrS4. Be aware the the AAN engine is an interference engine and that timing belt issues (e.g breakage) results in bent intake valves requiring that the head be removed and new intake valves (anywhere from 2 to 10) be installed. At that point, you would probably do all 20 valve guides and seals as well as a valve grind or at least a re-lapping of the valves into their seats.

I can call out for help on another UrS forum if you want.

Dave that would be appreciated.

I am well aware of the interference design. I am an enthusiest and been a VW driver for years, I do all my own work as much as possible too. The interest in this car has more to do with its current possible price and not the motor's state. I do know that this motor has a weird issue with the crank being slightly offset or somthing which causes it to burn through timing belts - needless to say it has had 3 head changes that I am aware of. It was 10 years ago when I first fell in love with the S4 when I met this car. I recently heard about it and the current owner wanted to get rid of it but couldn't find a buyer. I am expecting to come into ownership of a 94 S4 soon and this would be a great parts car.

Thanks for your help and time and I look forward to S4 ownership.

Just heard that the particular red S4 was sold a few months ago for a very cheap price It might have gone to a home in Guelph. A great car needing TLC got away.

On a bright note I hope to have ownership of my first S4 this week.
