Default Tow Hitch Installation Procedure - C4 100 1993

Hi there Gentlemen,

I was wondeing if the exists anywhere on this site an installation procedure for a Tow Hitch in a c4 100 1993 2,8 v6 aah.

I got one off a scrapped vehicle from a yard. I have fitted one on a VW Golf mk1. I have a feeling that this vehicle will not be as simple!!

Any help will be appreciated.

Kind regards from Durban, South Africa.

You need to remove the bumper cover.

Once the bumper cover is removed you need to insert the steel reinforcement plates through the bumper shock housing. I tape the carriage bolts to the steel plate so that they wouldn't fall out. Afterward just lift the tow hitch up and match the holes to the bolts. You will have to drill two additional holes. Put the nuts and washers on the bolts and tighten to the recommended torque setting.

This is what I haul with my Avant

You will also need to buy a light control module for the trailer tailights and brake lights. Don't try running it off the car tailight and brake light.

Make a circuit diagram so you know where to connect the wire to.

Strip the wires.

Crimp the connectors.

afterward it is just plug and play. You will need to run a wire from the from the car battery to the module so that the trailer lights are powered by the battery and does not go through the car lighting system. The car lighting system only provide a signal to the module.
