Default Audi buys Ducati. Another way to gain prominence over BMW?

It certainly won't hurt their cause - not that they need it. Audi seems to be doing all the right things with their products of late. (Too bad we don't see more of their offerings here in the US.) BMW is doing fine from a dynamic standpoint, but they've hit a wall with their styling IMO.

HotRod - agreed. I'm typically a fan of all things German engineering has to offer, but BMW really seems to be trying way too hard to be noticed. Just too much going on in their design and visual flavor - sort of 'over-engineered'. Audi just seems to have the right mix of sharp vs. smooth lines, classic/timeless vs. forward thinking styling and there's just something more intriguing about their cars. Kinda like a confident and sexy older women who knows what she's about and what she wants outta life - not some poor hapless college chic whose been sucked into that label-***** lifestyle and always on to the next fad.

...uhh, sorry, too much?

Anyway, yeah the Ducati thing - I'm not a motorcycle guy in the least (as I think they are two-wheeled death machines), but Ducati's are some good looking bikes. And well respected within the high-end performance market...more so than BMW's bikes anyway, no? Not a bad call to add them to the Audi portfolio IMO

BMW makes an awesome motorcycle. their GS bikes are awesome and well built. I respect BMW bikes but love/hate their styling. Their S1000rr spotsbike is an amazing machine.

However since i ride a Ducati I am biased. While i love that S1000 4 banger, something about a big desmodromic twin makes me smile.

Funny story, normally the Bimmer and the Ducati cuddle in the garage but last night the Audi and the Ducati cuddled. Now look what happened.

The NSU brand of Audi (NSU Motorenwerke)was at one time the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world. I guess they want to get back into the business with an already running motorcycle company.

Nice shot, Coolieman! It would be an even sweeter pic if you had figured out a way to get that bike on the roof rack somehow LOL!

Agree, One other note, the TDI engine needs to be rolled out on more models here in the U.S. They will be making a big mistake if they do not offer the TDI engine in the U.S. model for the upcoming Q3. This will be a game changer for Americans. Take a look at the VW offerings for that engine, so why not offer it on more Audi's? In additon, they need to ramp up the turbo offering for the Q5, the 2.0 engine is too small IMO, why not the 3.0.

Oh, note this: You are here: "Auto News > Audi pumps out new twin-turbo TDI 3.0L V6 [w/audio]

If you're in the market for a new car and diesel's among the options you'd consider, your local Audi showroom should be among your first destinations. The German automaker has made burning oil a cause célèbre right up there with Quattro all-wheel drive, but it's not about to sit on its proverbial laurels and let the competition catch up. To that end, Audi has just announced its most powerful V6 TDI yet."
