I am in the same situation.
In my case, I am looking for a 2013 S5 Prestige with the Fine Napa Leather option. I can happily plunk down a grand or two, but how to negotiate the price? I'm thinking the best bet is to work off of the current pricing... an equivalent 2012, make an offer of $x off the MSRP. Next, calculate the discount %. The final price would then be the same discount % off of the MY2013 price. There would be an "out" should the incremental difference between MY2012 and MY2013 exceeds a certain amount (in case the guys at Inglostadt go crazy). What does everyone think? Can anyone take a stab at a fair number to offer? |

That sounds like a plan, but when do you think you make the offer? When you send your order and down payment or when it arrives?

I'm planning to make the offer now with $1K or $2K down. I'll make them put the deal in writing so that I can back out and have my deposit refunded if the MSRP increases by more than, say, 5%.
This way, the car is on order and I know I'll be getting a fair deal ahead of time. My revised order would be (codes from the 2013 order guide): 8T354Y quattro S tronic WPT Prestige package 1G1G Volcano red metallic ZM Black seating I also would like to substitute dark wood inlays for the standard brushed aluminum. I'm not sure excatly how to deal with this unknown. Last edited by TRCarbone; 04-12-2012 at 04:06 AM. Reason: Accidently saved |

Start with $1,000 above invoice and see what response you get.

It looks like the 2012 invoice pricing is $57,526 for the auto tranny, metallic paint, and prestige package (less destination charge).
What about offering $59,000 inlcluding the $875 destination charge? The "discount" on the MSRP is 7%, so I would pay 93% of any increase in the MSRP between MY2012 and MY2013. |

I just ordered a 2013 S5 for European Delivery. Since there are no prices yet, it was just MSRP - 5%. That gives the dealer $1000 profit, which is fine with me. I also get the loyalty rebate $1500? and the ACNA rebate $500. They said they are going to ask for MSRP on ones not on ED. Who knows?

Who knows is right. They will say one thing, but change their mind once you
are walking out the door to the BMW dealer. Fortunately, I'm not in a "must have" situation, so if the 2 dealers I will visit won't take the offer I'll walk and hang onto my C6A6 for a while. Does anyone else have any expeience so far ordering a 2013 S5? |
