Default Night vision?

Has anyone encountered deer while using the night vision? I am curious to know if a deer appears in the 'danger zone' if it will register as a hazard and warn you via chime and red light as it would with a person. I am sure that the system uses some sort of algorithm to recognize people, but don't know if larger animals, such as deer, are recognized.

I would have thought it had more to do with thermal (i.e., 98 degrees, body temp, etc...)

Good question though... If I lived in a rural area, I would have definitely sprung for Innovation package

I think it's probably a combination of size and temp, but I don't know for sure.

Yes, a deer will register as a danger if in the road.

I've had it go both ways. Twice they've registered and 3 or 4 times not. Regardless, they are unmistakable white blobs that catch your attention. The most impressive application was when a deer did not register. A whitetail was bounding through the woods perpendicular to the road on my left. I saw the critter in the night vision display a good 3 seconds before he emerged into the light field cast by my headlights. It is probable that I would have creamed him otherwise because he bounded straight into the road but I was aready breaking hard.

That's good enough for me. At that point, I'm not waiting for the technology to put a red box around it.

Good to know, thanks

I just want to add that I've never seen the true application of the night vision until today. During storm and rainy weather, there was a man walking along the side of the road, I was about to signal and start leaning towards the curb but the night vision caught him and warned me on the heads up display approx 2 seconds before my headlights did. Impressive stuff if you ask me.

I've had deer register many times and tonight I came across a big snapping turtle in the road. I couldn't tell what it was until I passed, but it showed up on the display as a gray disk on the road. If it works one time and saves me the pain and hassle of an incident it's worth the price.

I've been trying to get something to show up since I got my car, but so far, no 10 point bicyclists or marching protesters or deer or anything else. Not to hijack the thread, but does it just show in the dash where the grey video shows up, or does the HUD produce something?
