Default S3 Mountain carver. LSD thoughts/ideas

Hi all.

I am seriously considering getting a 2007 S3 as a weekend car for drives in the hills. My other choice is an E46 M3 but I'd really like to stick with the 4 rings.

I plan on stripping out about 150kg of fat and improving the weight distribution as much as possible. I think it's possible to get the 60/40 to about 57/43. With an APR tune we should be happily in the 320hp range with some room for growth if I ever want to go for stage 3. Naturally brakes, suspension, lightweight wheels, and more will also be on the menu.

My main concern though is that I want a FUN car. I.e. I want to remove understeer and maximize oversteer. A Haldex controller is a must (shame the 2007 is gen2, a gen4 haldex car is outside my budget), but I'm also looking into LSDs. Now my understanding is Quaife and some other manufacturers make front LSDs which is an interesting prospect. But what about rear LSDs?

Does anyone have any thoughts or experience on having LSDs front and rear? I could see the axles locking or limiting slips at different rates causing weird handling or something.

Really I'm open to all suggestions on maximizing turn-in and rear power bias.

Thanks!

Greg

You can disconnect the front driveshafts to the wheels, then you can get all the oversteer you want. You probably have to lock the haldex clutch somehow though.

Other things include putting fatter tires in the front for less understeer, reduce weight only at the front half of the car.
