Default DRC Suspension Leak- Service Action Campaign 43A9/J9

I finally had to get the recall done on my RS4 and I must say that I am not happy with the results.

I had to get the P1 recall done for the ignition coil recall before I could register the car here in California. I was reluctant to get the suspension recall done because of other RS4 owners complaining about what it does to the car.

Took my car into the dealer for both recalls to be done back in October 2011.

Here is the list of parts they replaced:

Perform 28F2 Service Action-

(8) 07K-905-715-F IGNIT. COIL

Perform 43A9 Suspension Service-

(1) 8E0-412-019-B SHOCKABSOR
(1) 8E0-412-020-B SHOCKABSOR
(1) 8E0-512-019-E GASSHOCKAB
(1) 8E0-512-020-E GASSHOCKAB
(2) 4F0-412-137 BOOT
(2) 8E0-512-137-E BOOT
(2) N-105-729-02 SCREW
(2) N-105-494-02 BOLT
(4) N-101-064-02 NUT
(2) N-103-041-02 NUT
(2) N-104-018-01 NUT
(2) N-102-723-02 NUT
(2) 1K0-505-193 WASHER
(2) G-052-731-A2 HYDR. OIL

After I got the car back I have driven less than 900 miles (took a trip to Las Vegas which was 700 miles) so it wasn't until recently have I had a chance to drive around town to see how it feels.

The suspension feels very soft and mushy. I am getting bounce back over bumps, the car does not want to settle properly. If feels like an old Cadillac that floats around.

April 2012-

Took the car back into the dealer to make them aware of the issue. Had a technician ride with me and also drive the car with me. He immediately stated that it does not feel right and could tell there was something going on.

I left the car with them and they called me back the next day. They did not discover any leaks but the system pressure was 15 bar and it was supposed to be 16 bar. They also found the system to be low on Hydro Fluid. They bleed the entire system and put in (2) new bottles of HYDRO FLUID (G-052-731-A2).

When I went to pick up the car I drove it again with the Service manager in the car. It was hard to tell if there was an improvement. I will have to report back after I drive it more.

The service manager said he would reach out to Techincal to see if they had any ideas about what may be causing the issue.

The main issue I still feel is that when accelerating around a corner there is an awful shutter on the inner front wheel if the surface is not completely smooth. It almost has a bouncing effect until the car flattens out of the corner.

Questions:

Was there any damage done to any components driving around with low fluid levels and incorrect pressures ?

Any ideas what to make of these concerns ?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts,

Since you are in CA there are lots of Audi dealerships. I would suggest gong to a different one to get the car evaluated there. You might check the local forums for recommendations.

What he said. The service transformed my car x2 (both RS4s). I wish the magazines would retest the RS4 convertible after the shock recall. The difference in the ride and handling was unbelievable, the thing is fantastic.

I think my dealer knows what they are doing. I think many do not.
