Default sounds like a stupid question

I know this sounds like a stupid question, BUT read on, in the process of putting together and undoing the PO mess of wires in a 1985 CGT, only 20% of the wiring worked and it has been a slow probes of putting this car back together ( electrically) , I have sorted out all gremlins in the “hoch poch” wiring apart from:- Horn, lights high beam ( bright) rev counter, trunk light, electric mirrors, reversing light and stereo. The car now starts ) both hot and cold) idles like a dream no lifter noise. And drives very well.
However being that the ignition switch was missing along with the steering wheel, both wiper and signal switches, light switch and a bunch of added switches to turn on lights and cooling fans, I now have signal lights working, wipers and driving lights….. all but the full beam or high beam lights, I cannot find any wires for theses lights not can I find the high beam light switch. I also better add here that this is a European Audi CGT not the US version if that any help.

Question, where is the switch located for high beam. Its not on the turn signal arm ( only 4 wires 3 for the turn lights and one for the horn) and on the wiper are there is only delay water motor spray ( when you pull the stick towards you) and 2 speeds for the wipers. There is no foot switch either…. But I have a relay for the high beam….. and I have the blue high beam light on the dash, so how do you turn on high beam

Any ideas ?

I know my high beam switch is on the turn signal. But I have an 84 4000s. It could be on the light switch itself if it's anything like mine. If I remember correctly, mine has an extra connection on the back of it which isn't used on my car. Maybe if it's a similar switch, it's one of those. My switch now has 2 settings. Interior lights only, then all the lights. Maybe your switch will activate the high beams as well. Thats the best I've got.

Cheers for the response, to be honest I have no idea if any of the switches are correct for this car ??? I know I have no high beam on the turn signals or the wipers not on the main light switch itself? I know no help, hence the question....

The turn signal should have the high/low switch. Clicking it back to you changes the level.
Many of these cars have had relays added to the curcut because the headlight switch tends to melt due to the heavy current the twist switch carries.

Hi Guy's

Found answers to both questions, the two loose wires are from the PO where he removed the OX Box, ( small box which trips a light on the dash after 30,000 miles so you know to change the O2 sensor).

High beam, was removed by the PO because he was a ****, and when he broke the signal light arm off the steering wheel assy and replaced the switch with a rocker switch from radio shack he fused all the wiring and melted a few bits including the high beam ( which is on the wiper assy, and connectos to the back of the signal assy)

All sorted now.

Cheers

Hay Guy's

To be honest, I’m loving every minute of it......

She is running like a dream currently, and I’m driving her to work daily ( 98 miles round trip). Still have a good few issues to sort out, Rev counter still not working, electric mirrors not working, she gets hot in slow traffic ( but if you had seen the crap I got out of the radiator over flow tank it would not surprise you, it was solid… Screwdriver to remove 90% of it) crack in windscreen, wipers will not return to rest position ( have to be fast with the switch) and reverse gear does not work when she is cold !!!!

A fun car to drive for sure……
