Default Project - Building a drag racing car with a BBK 4.2l V8 engine

Hi everyone!

I`ve started rebuilding my Suzuki Maruti which previously had 1.6L Suzuki turbo engine and did 1/4mile in 13 secs flat. Here is a video when I achieved my first win in the 13 sec class with it. In the finals I was with an Opel Corsa with a BMW V6 engine which I managed to beat although he had over 100 BHP more than me.

I have managed to find and buy a Audi BBK engine V8 4.2L with which I want to achieve the 11 sec class for 1/4 mile drag runs.

I`ve ran into problems since first I have no prior knowledge of Audi engines and secondly there isn`t a single Audi car with BBK engine here so I can`t compare it with for a solution.

I`ve googled for info but could not find diagrams or schematics for the water cooling system and the hoses it consists of. If any of you could help me by taking a picture of your engine if its a BBK so I can identify what they look like and how many there are or if anyone has a diagram with the parts list, this would really help me. Here are some pictures from the new build as for you to understand the complexity of the project.

You have a nice Audi V8/race car there. Posted some pics of my 2004 S4 V8 for you. It's apart right now and will be taking engine out soon, so let me know if you need any specific pictures of stuff.

Keep us posted on your progress. Very ambitious project you have.

The newest problem is that I physically need a second hand speedometer cluster and I need it URGENT since my first race is in the beginning of May 2012.

Without this original S4 speedometer cluster I can't start the engine or I dare not, since I could blow it up. I have looked for this part in my country and Europe, I have not found one yet. Any ideas?

Thanks 1972bc for your pictures, they helped.

I have finished my project Maruti with an Audi enegine and won First place at the regional drag racing event in Osijek, Croatia with a time of 12.093 sec 1/4 mile.

Here is a video after the first engine start and the testing of the car.
