Default Drive... Pop, hiss... no power

Hey all,
Been a few years since I've been back here on AudiWorld.
I have a perplexing issue:
Drove the car and then a pop and hiss came from under the hood.
Lost power, but had enough momentum to coast to the shoulder.
I turned it over - no problem - but it died almost immediately.
(I towed it home.)

I'm thinking a vacuum hose popped off because the engine turns over without hesitation and, as soon as I give it gas, it seems to flood and die. If I turn it over and let it idle, it runs very rough (the revs jump up and down a little between 500-1200), and the exhaust is heavy (rich) and eventually the engine dies.

I think it's a vacuum hose, but I checked everything to be sure, I pulled the entire intake section and checked it - from airbox to y-pipe - everything is clean and none of the hoses are off, loose, broken or torn. Everything seems tight and without any obstruction. I was going to use my VAG-COM for help, but my laptop with the VAG won't boot up (figures!!).

Am I forgetting something?

I didn't get under the car yet, because I'm waiting for a friend with a floor jack, but everything up top looks fine.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Its definitively a boost pipe has blown off. You going to have to check the rest of the plumbing. if you only checked the airbox and big Y pipe your missing over half the plumbing. The massive air leak is why it wont run. Vag com will show MAF input low, lean condition, misfires, boost deviation low, ect.. so expect all those when checking.
