Default Adding sub to A6 Bose system

I want to add a real sub to a 2012 A6 with Bose 5.1 system using an AudioControl LC2i processor, but unsure of which signal to tap:
1. Bose processed subsignal, into L and R on the LC2i or
2. Bose front L/R signal (which I guess lacks the sub component), letting the processor create a sub signal, or
3. Tapping the signal between HU and Bose amp, risking a ground loop

Alt 1 would be easiest, but will it work? Other ideas?

On second thought, the HU to amp connection is probably a digital, optical one, ruling out option 3. I'll probably try opt 1 and see how it sounds.

Is there any update on this?

I'll be getting an A6 soon and will want to do the same.

Yes, check my thread on the subject in the A6 C7 forum. It sounds great!
